Het einde van de wereld ligt bij land's end in Cornwall.

In 2006 gingen we na lange tijd weer eens naar Engeland. We waren toch al in de buurt met het wandelweekend in Ambleteuse. We maakten de oversteek per boot in Dunkerque op maandag 25 juni, op een wat regenachtige dag na een warm weekend. (met de NorfolkLine ferry)

De klok draaide meteen een uur terug en zodoende kwamen we toch nog rond 8 uur 's avonds aan in de buurt van Bath, ergens ten zuiden van Bristol. De volgende dag zouden we richting Exmoor vertrekken. Het werd toch nog een uur 8 voordat we 180 km verder in Winsford op een heel ruime boerderijcamping terecht kwamen( Halse farm ). Meteen de grote tent opgezet, met de bedoeling hier enige tijd te blijven.

Uit eigen ervaring: Klein met kleine plaatsen. Niet zo geschikt voor caravans. Vlak bij de noordzeekust in Folkestone. Mooi uitzicht en vlak bij de kanaaltunnel of de boot. Reserveren gewenst in hoogseizoen.Er is hier nog een camping in de buurt.

Halse Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a small peaceful park for Touring Caravans and Tents in the heart of the Exmoor National Park and is adjacent to the Moor on a working beef and sheep farm. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery and an abundance of wild life with free roaming Exmoor ponies, wild red deer and soaring Buzzards.

This is a perfect area for Camping and walking with many Moorland, Woodland and Riverside walks starting and finishing at Halse Farm. We can supply laminated maps showing six splendid and varied circular walks varying from 2 to 12 miles.

The historic Royal Oak Inn with its beautiful thatch is just a short walk of one and a half miles through Yellowcombe valley or one mile by road and offers bar and restaurant meals.

Winsford [1 mile] has a Shop/ Post Office providing a wide range of provisions. Tea Gardens serving light lunchs and Cream Teas. There is also an attractive village church.

Halse Farm Caravan Park and Campsite is five miles from Dulverton and is close to the North Somerset/Devon Coast, Porlock Weir, Lynmouth, and The Lorna Doone Valley. Halse Farm is the ideal place to stay during your visit to
Exmoor UK.

Uit eigen ervaring: 1 van de mooist gelegen en meest prettige campings letterlijk aan de rand van het National Park Exmoor. De local farm doggy kwam wel de vuilbak leeghalen

Uit eigen ervaring: Kleine camping langs de Dart. Sanitair is simpel maar voldoende. Goedkoop. Vrij veel vaste plaatsen. Ligt in centrum van dartmoor vlakbij Widecombe-in-the-moor. Deze plaatsen zijn niet makkelijk bereikbaar voor brede caravans en motorhomes.

We are approximately 12 miles from Newquay, on the wide sweeping beaches of the north coast (surfer's paradise!) - 12 miles from historic Bodmin (on the moor), and 12 miles from the pretty city of Truro.
Mevagissey, Fowey, and other traditional fishing villages are on the south coast, among rocky coves, about 8 miles away.

Our guests appreciate being situated in peaceful surroundings yet central to all the attractions that Cornwall has to offer, within easy daily traveling distances.
Court Farm is set in 30 acres of peaceful pasture land, with 4 acres designated for caravans and tents, to a limit of 20 sites.
The campsite itself has wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Pitches are well spaced, and there are 14 electric hook-ups available.
The shower block has free constant temperature controlled hot showers and flush toilets. There is a hot water dishwashing area, laundry facilities, chemical toilet disposal point, baby bath and changing mat and freezer facility. Dogs are allowed on site - but on a lead please (we have sheep).
Shops, takeaway, pubs, a launderette, Post Office, churches, and a dispensing surgery are all available in the village of St. Stephen which is approx. 1 mile away.

There is a wide choice of pubs and restaurants providing good local food all within an easy traveling distance of Court Farm.
The nearest Catholic Church is 5 miles away, in St. Austell.
Also in St. Austell are: 4 main supermarket chains, a multi-screen cinema, a leisure centre with swimming pool; Ten pin bowling, 'Kids Kingdom' and an outdoor market, plus weekly car boot sale.
Court Farm is the "headquarters of Roseland Observatory we have a 9" Newtonian Telescope for star-gazing and Brian Sheen, an expert astronomer, gives lectures and guidance to any interested parties weekly by arrangement (Small charge)

We also have a freshwater lake where one can fish for Grass carp, Golden Tench, Roach and Rudd. Fishing is free.
The water at Court Farm is Spring water (98.5% pure) as good as any bottled water you will ever taste!
Bess, our famous three-legged sheep dog, and Boots (the biggest cat you will ever see!) wait to welcome you to Court Farm along with Bill, who has lived here all of his life, and knows everything about everything

Uit eigen ervaring: Niet de mooist gelegen, wel met thermostatische douchekranen en erg netjes. Centraal gelegen in zuid-west Cornwall. Bill doet en weet alles van alles. Ruime plaatsen (20)
Georganiseerde sterrenkijk avond MET uitleg en een echte telescoop. Heel fraai bij heldere nachten.

Uit eigen ervaring: Klein, langs een riviertje vlakbij Lynton en Lynmouth. Veel wandelwegen en prachtige omgeving. Alles goed in orde. met wasmachine en winkel. Loopafstand naar de pub. Vriendelijk en behulpzaam. In het seizoen vrij druk. Ook caravans te huur. In de buurt staan meerdere campings.
